If the starting amount is something that can be documented, you might be able to use the starting bid as a reasonable estimate for the cost basis that you actually paid for the jersey.

The W4 form, that my employer provides, has changed since I last touched it in 1999. With changing income, life events (married, kids), can you run through the basics of what one needs to have figured out (income, dependents, etc.) when you do the W4?
