I bought a house dec 26th of 2016 but did not make the first payment till jan 2017 do i claim the house on my taxes and if so how?

If you did not receive a 1098 from your lender/mortgage company then you would not claim the house on your taxes. Since you didn't make a payment until Jan 2017 then you would not be able to claim any mortgage interest until next year.
