Sorry, but you cannot deduct gifts to individuals.

@horusmetal Not sure why you are posting to this old thread that has had no activity since 2021----do you have a new question?   The original poster here was asking if they could deduct anything for a gift they gave to a needy family.  The correct reply was given----gifts to individuals or family members are not deductible as charity donations.  Only gifts to the actual organized charity can be entered as donations.  You cannot specify who the donation will go to.
