I am working on home office deductions. if i chose to itemize i will be depreciating my house. what does that mean to me? i believe we used the simplified option last

When you sell the house, if your property increased in value, you have to pay income taxes on the depreciation amount.

sorrily most likely it wont increase in value due to the market.   what flags the depreciation to be taxed (how will i know what to pay?)?   if i use the simplified deduction method  for federal taxes, i dont believe it shows depreciation.     so do i not have to worry about it at that point?   i believe its only a couple hundred dollars of benefit for entering home office deductions so i would guess that future tax isnt too big
