Vehicle standard mileage deduction may be entered against self-employment income by following these directions:
Individuals who own a business or are self-employed and use their vehicle for business may deduct car expenses on their tax return. If a taxpayer uses the car for both business and personal purposes, the expenses must be split. The deduction is based on the portion of mileage used for business.
I know that is how it should work, but as mentioned in my quarry, when I click edit, it does not list the vehicles. It just gives me the options to add vehicle info. Because if this, the vehicles were added twice, and I can't remove them. It is a technical issue with TurboTax online.
You need to edit your business entries and look for the page that says Your Business. You will see a list that starts with your Business Profile and in that column you will see Business Expenses, and then Business Vehicle Expense. When you update Business Vehicle Expense you will see a list of your vehicles and an option to delete them.
If you don't see any vehicles listed there, you may have entered them under another business in TurboTax or they may not be entered at all.
