I am unable to delete Personal Property Taxes once something has been entered. Tried enter $0 but it still reflects an amount prior. How can I remove this?

I misread it as Property Tax and would like to remove it. It shows an amount in the column and no way to remove it, that i've found.

I think you should look at your tax return.  If only the Standard  Deduction 2025  is posted, you will not have to concern yourself with anything else.

From the left sidebar

  1. Select Tax tools
  2. Click Tools
  3. A Menu will pop up
  4. Select View tax summary
  5. On the left panel click Preview my 1040
  6. Deductions are listed on line 12(e) of the tax return.

Some Key numbers to compare:

  • 11 Adjusted Gross Income
  • 12 Deductions
  • 15 Taxable income
  • 16 Tax
  • 19 Child Tax Credit
  • 26 Earned Income Tax Credit
  • 28 Additional Child Tax Credit
  • 33 Total Payments
  • 34 Overpayment
  • 35a Refund
  • 37 Amount you owe

Yes, here is the best way to have it removed.

  1. In Turbo Tax online The most direct way to get rid of the entry is to delete the associated worksheet:
  2. In the left-hand menu, select Tax Tools, then click Tools.
  3. In the pop-up window, select Delete a form.
  4. Scroll through the list and look for Personal Property Tax Worksheet or Car Registration Worksheet.
  5. Click Delete next to it and confirm.
  6. Log out of the program and log back in again. This will ensure the changes have been made.
  7. Check your Deductions & Credits summary to see if the amount is gone.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop.

  1. Click the Forms icon (top right).
  2. Find Tax and Interest Wks (Tax and Interest Deduction Worksheet) in the left pane. Select it and it will apeear in the right pane.
  3. Find the line for Personal Property Taxes.
  4. Right-click the field and select "Clear Field" or manually delete the value. If it's highlighted in blue, it means it's a "supporting" field—double-click it to find and delete the source sheet.
  5. Close your program so the changes will be saved.

Thank you for the guidance. I never knew that section was there. However the closest item I could find was Misc Itemized Deductions Wks (I'm using standard deduction) the rest all appeared to be correct. There were none with the naming conventions mentioned. Thoughts?

Thank you again!

If you are going to use the Standard Deduction, the Personal Property Tax will make no difference.

However, in the Online version, follow these steps for Personal Property Tax

  1. Log into TurboTax
  2. Select Deductions & Credits
  3. Scroll down to Personal Property Taxes
  4. Edit
  5. You can delete the amount
  6. If you don't you may get the message Right now, the Standard Deduction saves you the most on your taxes.
  7. In this case you do not have to do anything.

If you're in the Desktop version

Under Federal

  1. Select Deductions & Credits
  2. Under Cars and other things you own
  3. Pick Personal Property Taxes
  4. If anything is posted click Update
  5. Click the small arrow on the right
  6. Select Delete

Thanks for responding! The only lingering issue I’m seeing (probably just a glitch) is that no matter how I enter it, it still shows up under the tax break. After following your instructions, it defaulted back to asking “Did you pay personal taxes in 2025?”, which makes it seem like that section is unfilled but showing populated on the overview page at the same time. I’ll continue on for now. Thanks, everyone!

FYI, using online version.
