I am trying to enter in my work related expenses, should I be entering them under assists??

The expenses are tools I buy for my job that are used only for my job.

If this is for your W-2 job, and not self-employment, enter this in the Job Related Expenses section under the Deductions & Credits tab, when you get to that point in the program.
