No. If you are taking the standard deduction, you would not also get the sales tax deduction.
Where do you see this? If it is on the summary page, then that just means you entered it there, it does not mean that it is being included as part of your deduction. Look at your 1040 form line 12 and you will see that if one of the numbers below match the number on line 11, you only received the standard deduction.
The 2024 Standard Deductions are as follows:
- Married Filing Joint (MFJ) $29,200
- Married Filing Separate (MFS) $14,600
- Head of Household (HOH) $21,900
- Single $14,600
Blind or over 65 and MFJ or MFS add $1,550
Single or HOH if blind or over 65 add $1,950
