I am filing prior year amendments to add Property Taxes for a second property. Tax liability is not being reduced accordingly in the 2016 or 2017 desktop software. Why?

Property Taxes are an Itemized Deduction on Schedule A.

If you filed the Standard Deduction in those years, adding the second Property Tax still may not have increased your Itemized Deductions enough to make a difference in your return.

In FORMS mode, look at your Schedule A and Form 1040. 

If it does not make a difference in your Refund, you don't have to file your Amended Returns.

Thank you very much for the quick response.  I do not believe I filed the standard deduction.  I filed Married Filing Jointly and had Itemized deductions of $45,172 (line 40 of the 1040).  My Itemized deductions worksheet says that my deduction is not limited.  This is very strange as I had the same case with similar income / tax liability in 2015, and software did indeed adjust the tax liability and I am owed more federal return for that year, but it isn't working for 2016 and 2017.  Anything else that could be going on (could it be a software issue?)
