You need to count the years you are in the US as 5 years or part years. As an example, if you arrived in September 2013, you would count 2013 as one year, so 2013,2014,2015,2016 and 2017 would be 5 years. In this example you would become a resident starting January 1, 2018.
If you count your years in the US as indicted above and you determine that you are a resident in 2018, you need to file a full year resident return in TurboTax. If you find that you were a resident starting January 1, 2017, then you need to file a full year resident return for 2017 in TurboTax.
If you were not yet a resident in 2017 or 2018 then you need to file a nonresident return for those years with Sprintax.
