I am a college professor living in Colombia for a year's sabbatical. I have travel expenses to and from the US, plus travel for my research. are deductible?

i am researching original documents in Bogota, Quito, and Santiago and must travel to these cities.  I am getting my professor's salary, but have extensive, unreimbursed expenses.

Unfortunately, unreimbursed employee business expenses are no longer deductable as of 2018.  If you have a foundation providing you with Grant money, ask them to reimburse you.
