I accepted a new job and will be working from home. I will not be deducting indirect expenses, but can i deduct direct expenses such as a new work desk?

No. Employee business expense deductions have been repealed from 2018 to 2025.
However, if you are self-employed and use a home office for your business, you can deduct the expenses.

My work space is not separated, but in my basement which is open, so i cannot deduct indirect expenses.

If you are a W-2 employee, you cannot deduct any job-related expenses, including your home office. Sorry.
