You will report this in the Retirement Plans and Social Security section under Wages & Income. However, the Form 8915-F has not been finalized by the IRS for including in a 2021 tax return so the questions are not being asked until the form is available. There is no estimate from the IRS when this form will be available, but guessing sometime in March 2022.
One would think this would be fixed much sooner as people trying to do their taxes. Makes me want to try a different product next year or go a different route to do my taxes. I have been using Turbo Tax for probably 20 years or more. I wonder if there's a way to estimate these? Does anyone know if places like H&R Block are having to wait too or do they have a work-around?
FYI ... not even my professional tax program has this functional yet ... sit tight.
I just found the IRS form 8915-f on the internet....so it appears to be ready. Has anyone tried to do this manually then enter the taxable amount into the program?
Has anyone found the answer to this one yet?
@cc7317 The answer is still what @DoninGA said above. The 8915-F is required in order to report the second installment of the 2020 distribution you took. That form has been completed by the IRS and is now being integrated by TurboTax programmers. They are testing it in order to make sure it works before they release it. At this point it looks like the 8915 forms will be out on March 24th.
Here is the schedule for federal forms to be released in TurboTax.
