Is the following the type of property you have for the credit? -
Qualified biomass fuel property costs. Qualified biomass fuel property costs are costs for property which uses the burning of biomass fuel to heat a dwelling unit located in the United States and used as a residence by the taxpayer, or to heat water for use in such a dwelling unit, and has a thermal efficiency rating of at least 75 percent (measured by the higher heating value of the fuel). Biomass fuel means any plant derived fuel available on a renewable or recurring basis.
The Biomass credit for 26% is NEW this year and will not be properly implemented until Thurs or Friday of this week when the new form 5695 Q&A becomes active and (we hope) will display a new line-item entry for tha Biomass stove.
The "Energy-Efficient Building Property" section is where you would have put it for 2020 taxes....but that place is only for a 10% credit ......and $300 max.
Go back to that section and take out whatever $$ you entered there already...then come back on Friday. I "think" it should then move into the Solar Tax Credits page, where the other 26% credits are located.
As already noted, the biomass stove does have to meet the 75% efficiency minimum too.
