How to figure cost basis on parcel of land sold off of my home property?

Sold a portion of land in front of my home to the parish to make road improvements. How do I figure cost basis on that parcel?

How to figure cost basis on parcel of land sold off of my home property?

Compare the square footage of the sold parcel against the total area of land that you have anduse that ratio to determine the cost basis for the sold land.
