How much do you get for claiming a child under the age of 17?
The Child Tax Credit (not the same thing as the less common Child and Dependent Care Credit) can put up to $1,000 in your pocket for each qualifying child claimed as a dependent on your tax return. This credit is in addition to the $4,000 personal exemption you get for each dependent.
