How do we enter double-taxed income for NY for spouses separately?

My husband and I are filing jointly. We live in PA and both earned nonresident income in NY, so we both need to fill out the "Any Double-Taxed Income in New York" section of our PA state taxes. It says if both of us have income from that state, we need to file separate worksheets. But since it automatically calculates column A for us based on our NY state tax section and automatically brings that over, it's combining our income. How do we each fill out a separate form?

Split your NY income and taxes. TurboTax allows you to create multiple Schedule G - Ls. First edit your existing Schedule G-L so the income and tax liability pertains to only one person.

Click Edit next to New York in Taxes Paid to Other States Summary. Choose you or your husband. Adjust the income and tax due to NY. For the tax due, multiple the total tax shown by the proportion of income. For example, if you and your husband’s total NY income was $100,000 and you each made $50,000, multiply the tax due by the fraction (50%) of whoever’s income you are using on the first form. e.g. if NY tax was $10,000, enter $5,000.

After you are done, you should be back at Taxes Paid to Other States Summary. Select Add Another State. Choose the remaining spouse and enter the remaining income and tax liability.
