How do I report foreign earned income when physical presence is not yet met without having an incomplete 2555-S preventing me from e-filing?

Wait to file your tax return until the physical presence test has been met.

That won't be until October. I was really hoping to go ahead and get our refund then file the amendment later.  I have to pay the state, so without that federal return, I'm just out a bunch of money in April and not getting anything extra to cover that until October.

Unforturnately, you are not allowed to file your return with a Form 2555 until you have met the physical presence test.

If you are living in a high tax country, you may be fine just claiming the foreign tax credit instead of the foreign earned income exclusion.  You may wish to try that scenario in TurboTax.
