How do I claim the reimbursement payment for trees mistakenly cut on my property?

The state game commission was clearing trees on an adjoining property and mistakenly cut several of my trees down.  I was compensated for the value of the trees by them. I have been unable to get a 1099 or other tax form from the state agency that cut the trees..What do i do?

If they paid you the value of the trees you don't have a tax event. If more than their worth it is a capital gain and a loss if paid less than their worth.
