How can I tell if I overfunded my HSA in 2023? I do not see the form described in my 2023 taxes. I do not know how to determine if I overfunded my HSA.

How can I tell if I overfunded my HSA in 2023? I do not see the form described in my 2023 taxes. I do not know how to determine if I overfunded my HSA.

You can determine if you overfunded your HSA in 2023 by referring to your 2023 tax return, and determining if Form 5329 is present. If not, it is unlikely that you overfunded your 2023 HSA. Alternatively, you can look to your prior year W-2 (together with your spouse, if applicable) and compare the amount contributed to your HSA with the 2023 limit. The 2023 limit was $3,850 for individuals or $7,750 for a family plan, with an increase of $1,000 to both if you are 55 or older.
