Home heating credit form says ssn is in wrong format

Find out specifically what format it is asking for. Usually it is in the form of "/" or "-". Also is this a state return error?

Its a state return error. 

And its asking for it to be in this form : nnn-nn-nnnn

Thats how I have it, so I dont understand.

Double-check to make sure that not only is the Social Security Number listed on your return correct, but that the name associated with the SSN is input correctly.

What generally happens is that SSNs must match up with names that have been previously associated in the identity database, so there could be a mismatch if names are not entered correctly.

That being said, if you continue to have a state rejection, you'll have to print and mail your state return.
