Home equity line of credit interest deduction

Where do I note that I don't have a 1098 in the Deluxe edition of Turbo Tax for interest on my HELOC.  I did not receive a 1098 given interest was less than $600.

Home equity line of credit interest deduction

The good news is you don't have to have a 1099 to enter this amount, but it can still be deducted as it may reduce the amount owed.

It goes in the same area as your regular mortgage interest.? You will select the small link to Add a Lender to enter it.

To get to that area in TurboTax: ?While inside the software and working on your return, type?home equity loan?in the Search at the top of the screen (you may see a magnifying glass there). ?There will be a popup that says?Jump to?home equity loan. ?Select that to get to the general area.?

Alternatively, you can go to:

  • Federal Taxes?tab (Person in the Home & Business version)
  • Deductions and Credits
  • Your Home
  • Mortgage Interest and Refinancing?

Hope this Helps!
