Hi what if I purchased a used truck in 2017 do I have to claim this on my taxes

If the truck was for your personal use (and not for a business), then you do not need to report it. If you paid taxes based on the truck's value when purchased (and you itemize), then you might want to report that in the proper section to get the deduction.
