I did all those things. Even a Turbo Tax Rep shared my screen and saw that the software was not updating my information that I input. As a result, it was not calculating the $7,000 credit for the air conditioner system. I deleted the form and started all over again. I went to online several times and hit the update button several times on various days. When will this form be updated for desktop? I would like to file our taxes. Thank you.
@17718850368 The Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit for a central air conditioner is limited to $600.
Form 5695 instructions page 3 - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i5695.pdf#page=3
The credit from the Form 5695 Line 32 flows to Schedule 3 Line 5b. The amount from Schedule 3 Line 8 flows to the Form 1040 Line 20.
Same here. We got both and AC and new heater (paid a little over $7k each). So we definitely qualify for a $1200 credit, but TT does not let me input the info needed to calculate the credit and so it is defaulting to $0.
Try deleting Form 5695 from your return and step through the Home Energy Credit section again to let it repopulate. Make sure your program is updated through the ONLINE link at the top, if you're using TurboTax Desktop.

I'm having the same issue trying to add a heat pump water heater. When I look at the Forms view, it accepts the amount for the heater, but on the next line it is supposed to multiply the total by .3, and instead it leaves it blank. Seems like this form is not functioning properly.
I found the solution. I was saying “no“ to the question “was this place placed in service by you”… I interpreted that as it asking me if I installed everything myself. But it was just asking if I was the one who initiated and paid for the service - which is a yes. So after doing that, my credit calculated correctly.
Exact same here. Really freaking annoyed with the quality of TT the last couple of years. And the advice of "delete form XYZ and try again" is complete BS. Crazy idea here intuit, hear me out: maybe try releasing a product that's worth a **bleep**? Maybe a little quality control BEFORE release, rather than waiting to see who complains about what AFTER release?
Would someone from Intuit please address this issue? How can we know when it is fixed? Thank you.
Unfortunately that didn't work for me. I already had it checked that way. Fingers crossed they fix this soon. It's really annoying. I want to finish my taxes!
We're currently working on an update to form 5695.
A potential calculation error has been identified on the federal return related to the Form 5695, Energy Efficient Home Improvement section, specifically the Enabling Property group.
Action Required:
This return can't be filed at this time due to a processing error. The fix is scheduled for March 6, 2026.
Unfortunately had to come to this forum to see what's up. I had read that in early February form 5695 software was broken. On February 26 software related to form 5695 was operating correctly for my tax calculation scenario. As of today, March 3 apparently after what must have been a recent software update, form 5695 is a mess, including a bunch of wrong boxes checked that I had not selected via the user interface, and the 30% credit on improvement cost left calculated as zero.
This and a different user interface and software error (outside the topic scope of this post thread) are two negative experiences with this 2025 product.

You guys need to do a whole revamp of that form..this is not the only error..I answered "Yes" to questions that online tt product marked as "No" on the physical form and since it is not the desktop version, I cannot go on and override those areas incorrectly marked by tt..there is a whole online reddit thread regarding this issue as well as others...
