Has anyone filled out the necessary forms for closing an estate with TurboTax?

I have been told to fill out form 1041 by some then 1040 by others. I am the executor of my son's estate and my wife is the beneficiary and there is no income to report but we sold his house and car and paid his debts and have a significant cash balance so which form best suits this scenerio?

You must file Form 1041 for an estate that has:

  • Any taxable income for the tax year.
  • Gross income of $600 or more (regardless of taxable income).
  • A beneficiary who is a non-resident alien.

Form 1041 U.S. Income Tax Return for Estates and Trusts is available in TurboTax Business.
