Grocery Tax Credit with Food Stamps

Received Food Stamps during 2016. Did not find any question asking whether or not we received food stamps, when turbotax got to the grocery credit. Are the two not related, or if so, where should I go back to in order to add our food stamp status?

Grocery Tax Credit with Food Stamps

Food stamps are not taxable income.

The Grocery Tax credit is an offset of the taxes you would pay on groceries and is dealt with separately.

Here is a link to the IRS publication regarding public assistance, etc. and what is and is not taxable:
https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p4128.pdf

Hope this helps!
