Form 8889 line 3 is adding 1000.00 to my HSA contribution. Where would that 1000 be coming from? and am I being taxed on it?
I contributed the max of 3450, I am over 55 for the entire 2018, where is the extra 1000 coming from?

Line 3 is your maximum permissible contribution, calculated by TurboTax based on your answers to TurboTax's questions regarding your HSA coverage. Form 8889 line 3 will included the extra $1,000 for being age 55 or over unless you are married and had family coverage at any time during the year, in which case the $1,000 appears separately on line 7 instead of being included on line 3. Because you were over age 55, your maximum permissible contribution with self-only HDHP coverage for 2018 is $4,450.
