I had health insurance coverage through marketplace in 2025 for all 12 months. So I received form 1095-A. I am also self employed so I can take self employed health insurance deduction for the amount that is not covered by premium tax credit. TurboTax has filled out the deductible amount on Schedule 1 line 17, but there is no explanation in any of the worksheets how this amount was calculated. As far as I understand, Form 7206 should be filed while claiming self employed health insurance deduction but TurboTax did not generate this form. I am at a loss how TT calculated this amount and why there is no Form 7206. I am using TT online. Any help is appreciated. I can provide more specific details if necessary.

I figured out why TT did not not generate Form 7206 for me. "Exceptions" section of Form 1040 Line 17 instructions says to use Publication 974 if premium tax credit (PTC) was received from health marketplace. So TT must have used Pub 974 to calculate SE health insurance deduction. However, I still don't know how TT arrived at the deductible amount as it is less than the difference of premium payments and PTC received. The following may be affecting the calculation - there's a dependent on the policy, self employed business operated for part of the year, PTC was received unevenly throughout the year. TT should show a worksheet on how it calculated the final SE health insurance deduction amount but it does not, so my analysis is only a guess. Any info on how TT does the calculation would be appreciated. Thanks.
The amount of the deduction is also reduced by any credit that you receive on the tax return and can be increased by any additional payments that are added to your return. In order to see the exact calculation that is going into finding the deduction you would need to use the desktop version of TurboTax. Here is how to switch to the desktop version.
Thank you for your response.
I am having the exact same problem. Turbo tax is not populating form 7206 which is needed to correctly calculate the Self Employed Health Insurance Deduction. This is leading to incorrect data being used to calculate the taxes. The SE Health Insurance Deduction is a big tax deduction and if it is not being properly calculated it is misrepresenting the taxes that I must pay. This would mean it is a very faulty product. Plus, I got the desktop version and if this version does not work and I'm forced to used the online version to get my taxes ACCURATELY calculated, this seems like fraud. I do not want to use the online version and if Intuit can not provide a desktop version that is accurate, it should not be sold.
Can you clarify if you made the entries for the Health Insurance and if you had a PTC? @cat4228
