Hi, I use Turbotax desktop version. Based on what I know when the return involves From 3115 that needs to be mailed physically a separate copy to the address indicate on IRS website, Turbotax knows so and generate a cover page or statement to go with the submittal. I did not see this statement or cover page. Anyone knows so and Turbotax does not have an expert but robot to answer the questions that very often either relevant or wrong. It was a waste of time.

It is correct that TurboTax Desktop (Premier or Home & Business) will allow you to fill out Form 3115, but it does not support e-filing it. This requires a paper return. SeeHow do I file my return by mail?

When Form 3115 is involved, you must mail two copies. One with your tax return and a separate signed copy to the IRS in Ogden, UT to this address: Internal Revenue Service, Ogden, UT 84201, Attn: M/S 6111.

Make sure the copy sent to the Ogden address is signed and dated.

To find this Form in TurboTax Desktop, you can:

    1. TurboTax should generate instructions; if it did not, you can find the necessary information as follows:
    2. Click on Forms at the top right of your TurboTax screen to switch to Forms Mode
    3. Scroll down the list of Forms in the left panel of your TurboTax screen to find the instruction sheet for Form 3115
    4. Click on it and
    5. Click on print at the bottom left of the form that is displayed in the right panel of your TurboTax return
