Form 2555, Line # 5 Foreign Affiliate

I'm a US citizen living and working abroad. My employer is locally registered company but it has its HQ in the US. I need help with form 2555, Line # 5:

5 Employer is (check any that apply):

a A foreign entity

b A U.S. company

c Self

d A foreign affiliate of a U.S. company

e Other (specify)

Should I select option a only? Or option a and d? What is a foreign affiliate of a US company? How do I know that my local employer is a foreign affiliate?

Yes, you can enter this both in lines 5a and 5B.  Yes, enter both the US address where head-quartered and the foreign address of the branch.

Form 2555, Line # 5 Foreign Affiliate

It is a foreign affiliate of a US Company.  This means that the company is head- quartered in the US but has a foreign branch.

Thanks for the quick response. A couple of follow-up questions:

1. Should I select both options: 5a (A foreign entity) and 5d (A foreign affiliate of a U.S. company) ?

2. Should I enter the US HQ address in 4a (Employer’s U.S. address) along with 4b (Employer’s foreign address)?

Thank you.
