Form 1099-R Federal

I am getting a prompt to check my entries for Box 14. The message says for electronic filing, NYS witholdings can not be greater than or equal to gross distribution or state distribution. Gross distribution was 258.61, and I withheld $25.86 in Federal and same for State. State distribution was left blank. Pleaseadvise if this is a known problen taht will be fixed shortly. thank you

If the gross distribution in Box 1 is $258.61, and the entire amount was received while you were in NYS, you should enter 258.61 in Box 14.  I know it is currently blank, but that is what it is looking for.

@JohnB5677    (typing slip-up?)

On a straight 1099-R, for NY   Box 1 (258.61) goes in box 16, and not 14.  Box 14 is the $25.86

[[[On a CSA-1099-R it would be 258.61 in box 14  ..if present, and $25.86 in box 12....though TTX moves those $$ around to 16 and 14 on the semi-hidden backup worksheet]]]
