Foreign Tax Credit Carryover

TurboTax says I can't e-file because I have a foreign tax credit carry forward on line 10 of Part III of Form 1116.  I've had foreign tax credit carry forwards in prior years and e-filed.  What is different about this year?  Is this just because Form 1116 has not been finalized yet?  I certainly don't want to file a paper return and have in processed months from now (if ever).

Yes, this is correct. According to Turbo Tax, form 1116 won't be available until 2/25.

I'm aware of the delay for the 1116, and hopefully that is the reason.  However, the message didn't say I couldn't e-file because the form wasn't available, but because I had an entry on line 10 of Part III of form 1116.  I'll have to wait and see.  I also have returns for friends with the same issue.

Form 1116 is available now, but I also can't e-file due to the forgein tax credit carryover. No issues with this in the previous years. Is this an error in TurboTax? The existence of a foreign tax credit carryover should not be a reason to prevent e-filing.

I have the same problem.  It is now March 6, and someone said this was supposed to be fixed 2/25 by TurboTax.  Anyone have any more recent info on what is going on with this?

The link that was previously posted now says "print availability" is 3/17 and "efile availability" is "unsupported".

That doesn't sound good at all. Can anyone chime in? Perhaps we should wait until 3/17 for an update.

The 1116 Schedule B has been updated to be available for efile on March 11th.

The version of TTDeluxe for Windows I downloaded on March 5 does have Form 1116. The questions in the interview do not mention carryovers.  By going to Forms and using the Foreign Tax Credit Computation Worksheet, one can enter the carryovers.    Now TT includes the credit on line 1 of schedule 3.  

BTW, some members of Free File Alliance are handling the foreign tax credit perfectly.  Why is TT having so much trouble, especially for the small amounts that don't require a Form 1116?
