Foreign employment income with tax already been cut at the source. Will I be taxed again in US for that foreign income?

Do you mean you have paid taxes to the foreign government ?

Yes, I was employed for 22 days during the end of 2018 in Canada and income tax has been cut at the source for that period. As per residency status, I'm US resident for the year 2018.  Will I get the foreign tax credit?

You will still be taxed again while reporting on your US return.  However, you will be able to claim a foreign tax credit on a Form 1116 to offset your US taxes.

  • Sign in to your account, select Take me to my return
  • At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in foreign tax credit and Enter
  • Select Jump to foreign tax credit
  • Start with screen Foreign Taxes, select Continue
  • Next screen, Do you want the Deduction or Credit? select Take a Credit
  • Follow prompts
  • On the screen, Foreign Taxes Paid, enter your amount.
