The child and dependent care credit is a nonrefundable credit. Nonrefundable credit can only reduce a taxpayer's liability to zero.The credit can't be used to increase your tax refund or to create a tax refund.

The Child and dependent care credit and other nonrefundable credits are reported on your 1040 form on line 13b.
