For advance Child Tax Credit payments I received a letter for myself and another for my wife - we file jointly. Do I need to enter the value for both or is this duplicate

The letters are for the same amount and I do not believe we received to amount both letters add up to

Better check your bank records to see what you received and then check your IRS online accounts.

https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account

Federal>Deductions and Credits>You and Your Family>Child Tax Credit

The IRS is sending out letter 6419 to you.  It will show the amount of advance child tax credit that you received during 2021.  Enter the information from that letter carefully.

The remaining amount of CTC that you can receive will show up on line 28 of your 2021 Form 1040.

PREVIEW 1040

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901539-how-do-i-preview-my-turbotax-online-return-before-filing

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the screen. Click on Tools. Click on View Tax Summary. Click on Preview my 1040 on the left side of the screen.

NOTE:   The CTC is indeed a “credit” that can be applied toward any tax liability that you would otherwise have to pay as “tax due”  to the IRS.

Yes, if you file jointly you will have to enter both amounts (one for you and one for your wife) from letters 6419 into TurboTax.

If the amount shown on letter 6419 doesn't match the actual amount received then you can verify the amount on the IRS website.  If your number is definitely incorrect then you will need to call the number on the letter and speak with the IRS to fix it.  The number is 800-908-4184.

You can see your remaining Child Tax Care Credit amount on line 28 of Form 1040.
