@DonInOR - this early in the tax season, TT tends to have bugs. if you look at the form itself, does it state 'do not file' in the upper right, or is there an error indicator for that form? that means TT is stating it is not final; no need for alarm or report bugs until they say 'its final'.
Have you got the 1099Rs yet? Make sure you are entering each one for the right person. Or you entered the wrong code in box 7. Wait for the 1099R forms.
and...of course...make absolutely sure the "IRA/SEP/SIMPLE" box is checked "near" the box 7 code too.
Never tried to print/view, just knew the QCD questions did not come up on wife as my own account. If I recall last year I had to make wife a year older to do get to QCDs ... because Trump's tax plan deferred RMDs for her age bracket but that did not preclude making charitable distribs. I tried that trick this just now and the QCD questions still did not come up for her. I did stop and reenter TT to make sure new personal data took. There will have to be a work-around or I'll cease using TT since the QCDs are large..... Best to all users here! Don
No it is December so no 1099 yet, but her account only has one transaction so I know what the 1099 will look like.....
BINGO! This was a "new acct" so entered for first time and missed the IRA/SEMPLE box, did that and QCD questions appeared. There cheers for your hint! Don
How old is your wife? She can't make a QCD unless she is the right age and has to take a RMD. @dmertz
@VolvoGirl - QCD is 70.5 and RMD is 72 per Secure ACt...so you can do a QCD even if there is no RMD.
Oh good. Then I can make a QCD in June when I am 70 1/2. That's good to know.
