Your 1099-DIV worksheet has an entry in box 7 for foreign tax paid and you need to elect to take a deduction or fill out form 1116 for a credit.
If your foreign tax paid is $300 or more ($600 MFJ) then you must file Form 1116 to claim the tax credit. Most people claim the credit but there is a deduction option available. See Where do I enter the foreign tax credit (Form 1116) or deduction?
If your income is from a brokerage, select RIC - regulated investment company, instead of choosing a foreign country.
