It depends.  if you ONLY have a buyers order,  you likely will not be able to claim the credit, unless you contact the dealer and they registered and reported it online to the IRS when you purchased it. They should have given you the paperwork showing that they did this when you purchased the vehicle.  If they did not, at this point it is too late for them to do it and you would not be able to claim the credit.  

 

If they DID do this and for some reason they just did not give you the paperwork you needed but you can still get it from them, then you can claim the Used EV credit by selecting the following:

  1. Federal
  2. Deductions and Credits
  3. Energy Efficient Vehicles under Cars and Other Things you own
  4. Walk through and answer the questions regarding the car you purchased.
