I am so frustrated. I have a 179 carryover for a water heater from 2024 for a rental property. The amount did carry from 2024 to 2025, however the program states the amounts do not match when they do. I've tried reentering the amount over and over and I get the same results. They do match but the program refuses to accept that. How can I get past this?

I suggest you delete the section 179 carryover worksheet and the associated asset if necessary and renter them. Try deleting the worksheet first and if that doesn't work delete it and the asset. Before you delete it, make a note of the asset details such as cost and date put into service so you will have the information necessary to re-enter it. After you enter your business income and expenses you will see a screen that says Section 179 Carryover where you can enter your carryover amount from the previous year.
Follow these instructions to delete the worksheets:
1. Choose the Tax Tools option on your left menu bar while working on your return
2. Choose Tools
3. Choose the Delete a form option under Other Helpful links
4. Find the asset and/or section 179 carryover worksheets in the list and delete it
I was advised by tech support to delete the asset and start over. I was able to correct the error.
Having said that, I had tried to delete the asset only and not the worksheet so that solution may have worked since the worksheet was probably generating the error, although the as it was deleted. I’ll remember that tip where the worksheet should be deleted first. Thanks again.
