Entering Mortgage points using Turbo Tax Deluxe 2019

The steps to add points tells me to go to the Federal Menu, choose Deduction & Credits. Click Edit/Add next to Mortgage Interest and Refinancing (Form 1098). Click Review next to the correct leader. With The 2019 Turbo Tax Deluxe, I have no Edit/Add function. My choices are amortizing or no points at all. how do I enter the points I paid for my new home loan.

Entering Mortgage points using Turbo Tax Deluxe 2019

The process is just slightly different in TurboTax software installed on your computer:

  1. Click on the Federal Taxes tab, toward the upper left.
  2. Select Deductions & Credits, just below that.
  3. Select, I'll choose what I work on, on the right.
  4. To the right of Mortgage Interest, refinancing and Insurance, click Start or Update.
  5. Answer the first question Yes.
  6. Enter your lender's name, click Continue.
  7. Keep going until you get to the screen that says Tell us about any points paid to Lender
  8. Check the top box next to This is a new loan on which I paid points in 2019, and the second box, I bought or improved my main home with this loan in 2019, click Continue. Please note if both of these statements are not true, you have to amortize your points.
  9. Enter the amount of your points.
  10. Answer follow up questions according to your situation.
