Entered mortgage interest an other deductions and my tax owed has not decreased. will it reduce when deductions exceed the 24,000 std deduction? married jointly file.

My deduction so far are less than the Std. dedication of 24,000 for me.  I am married filing jointly with one eligible dependent.

Until you exceed the Standard deduction the additional itemized deductions do not help or change the tax due or the refund amount.
