Energy credits

I went through the turbotax program and completed information on my new home.  Then in reviewing the form online, I'm not sure I can take the credit.  I bought a new townhouse, just built, that has tankless water heater and efficient Trane furnace.  I entered everything, but found a place on form that says if built in when you bought, you can't take credit.  But I specifically sought energy efficient new build...

Energy credits

No, you cannot take the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit on a new construction home. This credit is only available for improvements on already existing homes.

 

The maximum for the improvements you mentioned in an existing home would have been $600 for both, details here: Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (EEHIC)
