My adjusted gross income is $29,476. I am claiming 1 child on my return as a dependent. She is a college student and 24 years old. She lives at home with my wife and me while attending school. She meets all the criteria that I know of to be able to claim her. When I try to claim the earned income credit, TurboTax tells me that I don't qualify. My adjusted gross income was a little more last year and I received the credit. There are no errors on my return per the TurboTax review.
Am I missing something? Please clarify if possible.
thanks,

If the student turned 24 on or before Dec 31 of the tax year, then she does not qualify as your dependent under the qualifying chlld dependent rules, but may qualify under the qualifying relative dependent rules. But for the EITC, if the student was *OVER* the age of 23 on Dec 31 of the tax year, while they may qualify as your relative dependent, but they do not qualify you for the additional EITC.
She has to be under 24 years of age as of 12/31/2021 to qualify for the Earned Income Credit.
Thanks, that answers my question.
