I am trying to efile using TurboTax Deluxe.
It gets rejected saying spouse AGI is incorrect and doesn’t match the IRS database.
We filed married filing jointly and the spouse had 0 income in 2024. Based on resources I entered, AGI was entered as it shows on box 11 and also it’s the same in IRS transcripts.
Also does rejected tax return counts towards 5 e-files of Federal?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If you filed jointly last year, the IRS considers you as a single taxable entity, and you have the same AGI. Which would be Box 11 of your Form 1040, as you stated above. You can try deleting and re-entering the amount. A rejected return can count toward the 5 e-files for TurboTax Desktop.
Some things to check:
If you entered the amount correctly and you continue to get a reject, you won't be able to e-file. There may be a data mismatch at the IRS.

You can contact TurboTax Customer Support using this link: Turbo Tax Customer Support, to inquire about your e-file status.

Can? How can I make sure what's the count?
If it's getting rejected that's because of error, how and why is it getting counted towards 5 efiles as long as it's for same person and same federal return?
You can contact TurboTax Customer Support using this link: Turbo Tax Customer Support, to inquire about your e-file status (the number of e-files you have left). Unfortunately, we can not see that information here in the TurboTax Community.
Try entering a zero for your spouse's AGI. This may allow you to successfully e-file.
You can also try deleting the number and reentering it to clear the data field if entering zero does not work.
If you entered the amount correctly and you continue to get a reject, you won't be able to e-file. You will have to mail your tax return. I have included instructions below.
It is possible that there is some kind of data mismatch at the IRS. It's not something we can see here.
You could try calling the IRS to inquire about it. IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday. Make sure to have a copy of your tax return available.
