Under the tax laws in effect for 2020 tax returns you cannot get the child tax credit for a child who was older than 16 at the end of 2020, nor could you receive stimulus money for a child older than 16.
For 2020 if your child was 17 at the end of 2020 you get the $500 credit for other dependents instead of the child tax credit.
The rules are changing for the 3rd stimulus check and for the child tax credit for 2021.
Has to be under 17 for the Child Tax Credit. Now they are other qualifying dependent for 500.
A child over the age of 16 no longer qualifies for the $2000 Child Tax Credit. They qualify for the Other Dependent credit of $500.
Yes it did. Thank all of you that responded.
