Does turbo tax platform handle Qualified Charitable Donations properly so that is is not included in adjusted gross income?

Yes, TurboTax can handle these.  It is addressed in follow-up questions that will appear after all of your 1099-Rs are entered. Be sure that the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box is checked on the 1099-R associated with the QCD distribution and that you answer YES  when TurboTax asks you if the distribution was an RMD as well.  This will ensure that TurboTax asks you the appropriate questions to treat the distribution properly.

I downloaded the 1099 for my IRA RMD.  The total shown in Box 1 includes a QCD.  Nowhere in the TT interview can I find the part where it asks about a QCD.  What am I missing?

After your enter the 1099-R information, you must continue.  It will ask if you inherited the money, then if it was RMD and if it was a QCD.  See below.
