I don’t understand. It would only be an itemized deduction if you take itemized deductions on Schedule A.
You may deduct the cost of out of pocket costs for prescription drugs and other medical expenses if you have enough deductions to itemize on your Schedule A. The IRS allows all taxpayers to deduct their qualified unreimbursed medical care expenses that exceed 7.5% of their adjusted gross income.
