You must have had at least 8 mortgage payments and some property taxes--you can enter them.  Have you received a 1098 from the lender?

I first moved into that house on 1 Nov 2004, and finally sold it on 13 Jul 2016. The 1098 states that $3820.48 was received from the payee/borrower. And total interest applied in 2016 was $3798.36.

You claim the mortgage interest that you paid up to the date that you sold the house. The lender will send you a Form 1098 showing how much interest you paid for the year. You can claim the amount shown on the Form 1098.
