Deductions

The amount of my deductions as listed on TurboTax is $32094 which is greater than the standard deduction for filing married jointly.  However, Turbo Tax is telling us that the standard deduction will benefit us more.   We don't understand how that can be true.

Deductions

are those $32,000 of deductions the gross deductions?

for example, the medical expenses that are deductible is the part that exceeds 7.5% of your AGI

your state and local taxes are limited to $10,000.

Also, what is your income? Line 11 minus line 12 can't go below zero in any event - that could also be why TT is using standard deduction as it doesn't matter.
