DeductibleDuck Charity name and address does not get imported into TurboTax

Why does the charity name and address not import into Turbo Tax? Only charity name and value. Painful to retype the address information in manually.

DeductibleDuck Charity name and address does not get imported into TurboTax

Importing into TurboTax depends entirely on whether you are using the Desktop version or the Online version.

The Desktop version is the only one that supports a direct "file import" using the .TXF format.

Step 1: Export from Deductible Duck

  1. Log in to your Deductible Duck account.
  2. Go to the Tax Reports section and select Export for TurboTax (.TXF).
  3. Save this file to your desktop.

Step 2: Import into TurboTax

  1. Open your tax return and go to the File menu at the very top.
  2. Select Import > From Accounting Software (or From TXF Files on Mac).
  3. Select Other Financial Software (TXF file) and click Continue.
  4. Browse for the file you just downloaded and click Import Now.

Important: Only "Items" and "Money" donations import this way. Mileage and Stock donations must be entered manually because the old .TXF format doesn't support that data.

TurboTax Online does not support importing .TXF or .CSV files for charitable donations. You have to use the "Summary Method."

Step 1: Get your Summary Report

  1. In Deductible Duck, go to Tax Reports and download the Donation Summary (PDF).
  2. This report will group your donations by Charity Name and tell you the total value for each.

Step 2: Manual Entry in TurboTax Online

  1. Go to Deductions & Credits > Charitable Donations.
  2. Add a charity (e.g., "Goodwill").
  3. Instead of listing every shirt, enter the Total Value from your Deductible Duck summary for that specific charity.
  4. Keep the detailed Deductible Duck PDF with your tax records in case of an audit.

DeductibleDuck Charity name and address does not get imported into TurboTax

Thanks for the reply.  I am using the Desktop version of Turbo Tax Premium and followed the same steps outlined below to import "Items" and "Money" donations only (i.e. same instructions on the Deductible Duck Web page).  All of my donations imported into TurboTax, but none of the address information associated with each Charity.   For each donation (ex. Several Donations to ARC), I had to manually enter and re-enter in the Charity Address.  Why is the address information not importing on TurboTax Desktop?
